Man Backs Out of Driveway into Car

An 80-year-old Western Springs man backed out of his driveway and hit a car parked on Johnson Avenue around 7:05 p.m., police said. The man was not cited.

Following too Closely, Improper Overtaking

Valerie Johnson, 55, of the 1300 block of South Villa Avenue in Villa Park, and Vanessa A. Morgan, 41, of the 00W700 block of 83rd Street in Burr Ridge, were cited around 9:32 a.m. near the intersection of Ogden and Hampton avenues, police said. Both women were driving east in the 1400 block of Ogden when Johnson struck the rear of Morgan’s car, police said. Johnson was cited for following too closely, while Morgan was cited for improper overtaking, police said.

Improper Backing

William D. Rohaly, 21, of the 4800 block of Fair Elms Avenue in Western Springs, was cited for improper backing around 7:21 a.m. near the intersection of Ogden and Central avenues, police said. Rohaly backed up on Central and hit the car behind him, police said.

Failure to Reduce Speed

Edward M. Sarney II, 23, of the 600 block of Lorraine Avenue in Elmhurst, was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident around 2:43 p.m. near the intersection of Ogden and Woodland avenues, police said. Sarney rear-ended a stopped car, pushing it into the car in front of it, which was stopped for a bicyclist, police said.

Hit and Run on Grand

A driver struck a parked car in the 4500 block of Grand Avenue around 3:24 p.m. and left the scene, police said.

Tuesday, June 18

Failure to Yield

Chinh L. Diep-Crossman, 53, of the 0-99 block of North Brainard Avenue in La Grange, was cited for failure to yield at an intersection around 6:38 a.m. near 41st Street and Gilbert Avenue, police said.

Sideswipe on Ogden

A 50-year-old Lockport man was following a 16-year-old Brookfield boy too closely and sideswiped him when the boy slowed his car to make a left turn, police said. The incident happened around 4:53 p.m. near the intersection of Ogden and Hampton avenues. No citations were issued.
