Thanksgiving DUI Crackdown Underway in Western Springs
The Western Springs crackdown will run through Dec. 1.

The Western Springs Police Department is increasing DUI and seatbelt enforcement between Nov. 19 and Dec. 1 to crack down on offenders around the Thanksgiving holiday.Β
"In Illinois, during the 2012 Thanksgiving holiday, nine vehicle occupants died in motor vehicle traffic crashes," a police department release states. " Three of the deaths involved an impaired driver and over 700 individuals were injured."
The crackdown is being held in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois State Police.Β
"The Western Springs Police would like to remind the public to designate a sober driver and to buckle upβthat is always your best defense against an impaired driver," the release states.Β
