Timber! Tree Felled on 47th Street

Omar Banvelos, a worker with Sinnott Tree Service, Inc., takes a chainsaw to a tree at the corner of Johnson Avenue and 47th Street, where traffic was rerouted around noon today to allow for the removal. Sinnott Tree Service owner Rick Sinnott said that the company had removed about a dozen trees from 47th, and that the removal was necessary because the tree was unstable due to insufficient space for its root system. Another worker routing traffic suggested that large trucks might hit the branches hanging over the road.
