Thank you for your continued patience as we continue working to deliver work in your area. While this week’s work was communicated with both neighboring residents and villages, we understand that there was an instance where the work fell outside of stated hours, and the noise associated with the work disturbed residents both within and beyond the notification area at an early hour.
The good news is the pile driving work is now complete on the center pier, and there will be no ongoing early morning activity. Further, we do not anticipate additional pile driving in the near future on this project.

Due to previous concerns and the impact of this activity on area homes, the Illinois Tollway has been committed to working with our contractors to minimize this type of work and equally committed to providing advance notice to resident and communities prior to the disruptive work.
As previously promised, the Tollway did provide advance notice to residents and communities regarding this week of scheduled concrete breaking and pile driving when it was confirmed that this activity would occur during both daytime and overnight hours. With the goal of finishing this phase of the project as quickly as possible, work was authorized between 4 am and 7 pm with the hopes of accelerating the work into several days.
This schedule was necessary due to coordination with railroad operations, allowable lane closure hours on the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) and our efforts to minimize the duration of this work. While this work was originally requested for overnight operations, due to the proximity to residents and input from the communities, the start of noise producing work was delayed to early morning hours.
Please know we are committed to reducing disruption, and we are working to construct the bridge as quickly as possible to minimize the impact of this project on your community.
Feel free to reach out with any further inquiries you may have, and note the BNSF Project updates are available on the Tollway’s website under Projects.
Thank you, and again, please accept our apologies for the disruption.
