Tornadoes Possible as Fast-Moving Storm Heads toward Western Springs

The storm could also bring three-quarter inch hail and 70 mph winds, the National Weather Service said.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Cook County until 6:45 p.m.

A line of thunderstorms traveling 60 mph in our direction were located over Yorkville at 5:18 p.m., the alert said. It is expected to arrive in the Western SpringsΒ area around 5:50 p.m.

Hail greater than three-quarters of an inch, 70 mph winds and tornadoes are possible with this storm.

β€œThis is a dangerous situation,” the alert said. β€œThese storms have been producing widespread wind damage.”
