Western Springs Class Sizes Higher Than Others

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – The average class size in Western Springs School District 101 is higher than those in three La Grange-area districts, according to state statistics.

Last school year, the average was 21 students per class in District 101, the same as the statewide number. That compares to 18 in La Grange District 105 and 20 in both La Grange District 102 and La Grange Highlands District 106, according to the Illinois Report Card website.

In 2022, Western Springs' average class size was 22, one more than the state number. From 2013 to 2018, the district's average exceeded the statewide number every year.

According to the Illinois Report Card, research shows that students in lower grades demonstrate the potential for higher achievement scores when they are enrolled in smaller classes.
