Western Springs D101 Math Scores Still Falling
Wealthy school districts such as the one in Western Springs typically do far better than the state average.
WESTERN SPRINGS, IL β Western Springs School District 101 saw a mixed bag in scores on standardized tests last school year, according to data released last week.
In third through eighth grades, the percentage of students meeting state benchmarks in math on the Illinois Assessment of Readiness fell in 2022-23 to 64 percent.
In the previous two years, the number was 68 percent, while it was 75 percent in 2018-19, the last full year before the pandemic.

Across the state, 27 percent of students met standards in math last year, down from 32 percent in 2019.
In English language arts, 73 percent of District 101 students met standards, up from 70 percent a year earlier. In 2020-21, the district dipped to 62 percent, down from 77 percent in 2018-19.

Statewide, 35 percent of students met standards on the test's English language arts section, compared with 38 percent pre-pandemic.
Wealthy school districts such as the one in Western Springs typically do far better than the state average. Just 1 percent of District 101's students are considered low-income, compared with nearly half statewide.
