Western Springs Group Razes Building

Local Masons met there for nearly 70 years. They have moved to the Riverside lodge.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs Masonic Lodge No. 1136 tore down its building last fall and now meets in Riverside.

The topic came up at Monday's Western Springs Village Board meeting.

A committee has recommended doing away with the on-street parking prohibition in front of the lot at 1215 Chestnut St., where the lodge building once stood.

In October, the local group announced on its Facebook page that it had demolished the building.

"Sad to see that part of our history is gone, but nonetheless grateful for all the memories built there," the lodge said.

In April 2022, the lodge revealed on Facebook that it would hold its last meeting in the building and move its sessions to the Masonic temple in Riverside.

The Western Springs group had met in the local building since 1953.

At Monday's Village Board meeting, Trustee Scott Levis said a house was being built on the site.

A Facebook message was left Wednesday morning with the Western Springs lodge.
