The village also plans to replace the more than century-old, 4-inch water main with an 8-inch one.

A dozen companies bid on the project, with Addison-based G&M Cement Construction the low bidder at a hair less than $3 million. The three highest bidders were above $4 million.

G&M has done similar work in Western Springs before, including the Grand Avenue reconstruction in the Ridgewood neighborhood in 2021, according to a village memo.

The Woodland work is being paid for by a property tax increase that voters approved in April.

Later this month, the Village Board is expected to vote on G&M as the contractor.
