Western Springs School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Western Springs is August 23. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Western Springs School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

• 8/21 - 8/22: Institute Days
• 8/23: First Day of School for Students (Full Day)

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)
• 9/20: Late Arrival Day (10:00 a.m.)
• 9/27: Half Day (Dismissal: Elementary 11:40 a.m.; Junior High 11:52 a.m.)

October

• 10/9: No School (Columbus Day)
• 10/10: No School for Students (Institute Day)
• 10/27: End of First Quarter

November

• 11/1: Late Arrival Day (10:00 a.m.)
• 11/20 - 11/21: Parent Teacher Conferences
• 11/22 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving)

December

• 12/6: Half Day (Dismissal: Elementary 11:40 a.m.; Junior High 11:52 a.m.)
• 12/25 - 1/5: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1 - 1/5: No School (Winter Break)
• 1/8: School Resumes
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day)
• 1/19: End of Second Quarter
• 1/24: Late Arrival Day (10:00 a.m.)
