This is What LTHS Kids Have Been Doing All Holiday Season

Take a look at how these high school students gave back this Christmas.

'Tis the season to give back and pay it forward, and Lyons Township High School students aren't any exception. Throughout the holiday season they've thrown concerts for locals, cooked meals for seniors and gone on shopping sprees for needy children.

Members of the Lyons Township High School Student Council organize the shopping sprees made by district students, staff, classes and clubs for 145 local children. A total of 145 needy local children will be surprised this holiday season with clothing, school items and toys thanks to Lyons Township High School elves. The elves are actually students, faculty members, classes, teams, clubs, departments or offices participating in the Community Nurse Health Association’s Secret Santa program. The program is designed to match a group with an area child, and let the group be Santa for that youngster. For many families, the gifts provided by Secret Santa are the only gifts under their tree. Groups collect between $100-$150 per child then shop for gifts specifically for their child. The gifts are then presented to the family and distributed at the holiday. | Photo courtesy of LTHS
