Why Are Village Flags at Half-Staff? Jan. 19

The Village of Western Springs has received notice from the Illinois Department of Central Management Services that all entities covered by the Illinois Flag Display Act are to fly flags at half-staff to honor and remember PFC Kenneth Leroy Cunningham, United States Army, hometown: Ellery, Illinois.

Flags should be flown at half-staff from sunrise Jan. 19 to sunset Jan. 21, according to the village.

The village will lower the flags at Village Hall, Tower Green and the fire department.
