The high winds warning for Cook County has not come to much in the Village of Western Springs other than a bit of garbage being blown around, but 218 La Grange Highlands and Springdale homes are currently without electricity as a power line is snagged in a pine tree behind a home on the 1700 block of West 54th Street (La Grange Highlands.) ComEd repairmen are currently on the scene and are sizing up options for fixing the issue; they expect to have power restored within a few hours. The winds in Western Springs are currently blowing at 20-30 mph, well below the worst-case scenario forecasted of up to 70 mph.
