72 Tickets Issued During New Year Safety Campaign In DuPage County
The safety campaign ran Dec. 13 through Jan. 2 as part of a statewide initiative.
DUPAGE COUNTY — The DuPage County Sheriff's Office issued 72 tickets during its recent winter holiday crackdown. Patrols were increased during the safety campaign, which ran Dec. 13 through Jan. 2.
The following tickets were issued:
- Speeding tickets: 19
- No valid insurance: 13
- Disobeying a stop sign: 7
- Expired plates: 6
- Failure to use turn signal: 6
- No valid registration: 5
- Suspended registration: 4
- Distracted driving: 3
- Disobeying a traffic control device: 3
- Failure to carry driver's license: 2
- No valid driver's license: 1
- Following too close: 1
- Improper lighting: 1
- Canceled, revoked or suspended registration: 1
"We can't stress it enough: Impaired driving is a deadly gamble," Sheriff James Mendrick said in a statement.

Mendrick added, "It's illegal, it's irresponsible and it puts lives at risk - yours, your passengers' and everyone else's on the road. Campaigns like 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' empower us to address this issue directly and send a clear message. If you're under the influence of alcohol, cannabis or anything else, don't drive."
