80 Barbershop Singers To Perform Holiday Shows In Wheaton, St. Charles
The beloved 80-person barbershop chorus will perform their 2023 shows at Baker Memorial United Methodist Church and Barrows Auditiorium.
WHEATON, IL — The sound of 80 barbershop chorus singers will resonate throughout Baker Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Charles and Barrows Auditorium in Wheaton for the 2023 "Christmas Memories Show."
The massive Northern Illinois Harmony Alliance chorus will be made up of singers from eight choruses that span north Illinois from Rockford to Chicago, to Wheaton and beyond.
When Patch profiled the chorus ahead of their 2022 holiday shows, Bill Miller, who performs with the chorus and chairs its holiday concert, said, "When they hit the end of the song at full volume it just sends shivers up and down your spine."

Miller said the chorus is the "largest congregation of barbershop singers in the Chicago area in quite some years."
Event organizer Bill Murschel said in a statement, "This is a program for all ages, and showcases some of the finest barbershop talent in this part of the state. The energy and showmanship created by this many performers on stage is certain to be inspirational, and sure to put attendees in the Christmas spirit."

This year's show theme is "Christmas Memories" and each performance will kick off with traditional Christmas songs, including "White Christmas," "Jingle Bell Rock" and other favorites. Songs and narratives highlighting the Christmas story will make up the second half of the show, with soloists, duets and smaller choruses.
The night closes with a resonant rendition of "Joy to the World" accompanied by a pipe organ.
Tickets to the Northern Illinois Harmony Alliance's holiday show are $25 per person. Students who are 18 and younger get in for $15 per person, and kids who are five years old or younger get in for free with the purchase of an adult ticket.
