WHEATON, IL — River and Fern, a bonded pair of juvenile coyotes, are Cosley Zoo's newest residents. The duo had been in a California rehabilitation center after being kept illegally by humans.

Fern is roughly seven months old and River is about six months old, according to a news release from Cosley Zoo. Since their arrival at the zoo, the twosome have slowly begun to become acclimated to their new world.

Due to being raised by humans at the start of their lives, Fern and River are unable to be released into the wild, per Cosley Zoo.
