Field added, "This is an event where everyone in the community comes together to enjoy time with one another while supporting Special Olympics programming. Special Olympics provides sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports (basketball/track/bocce/bowling) for individuals with intellectual disabilities by giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympic athletes, and the community."
