Chicago Man Charged With Possession Of Stolen Vehicle; Theft Of Property
A DuPage County work vehicle was allegedly stolen from a County Farm Road property Aug. 14.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Wheaton Chief of Police Bill Murphy announced today that a Chicago man has been charged with Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle and Theft of Property Exceeding $10,000. Christopher Britter, 30 (d.o.b. 02/23/1990), of 4330 N Sheridan Road, Chicago, has been charged after the report of a stolen automobile was filed with the Wheaton Police Department on Aug. 14, 2020.
It is alleged that at approximately 1:27 a.m. on Aug. 14, 2020, Wheaton Police Officers were summoned to the DuPage County Complex, 505 N. County Farm Road, for the report of a stolen motor vehicle. A DuPage County work vehicle, described as a Ford F150, was taken from the front entrance near the building. Through the investigation, Britter was developed as a suspect.

At approximately 5:01 a.m., it is alleged that Britter was located sleeping inside of the vehicle near Lemont Road and I-55. Britter was taken into custody by members of the Darien Police Department and the Illinois State Police without incident. He was later transported to the Wheaton Police Department, where he was charged with Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle and Theft of Property Exceeding $10,000, before being transferred to the DuPage County Jail to await bond court.
