Community Resource Officer 'Vital Resource' To Schools In DuPage Co.
Corporal Scott Mrkvicka will work with multiple schools in DuPage County to help improve school safety and community relations.
DUPAGE COUNTY — The DuPage County Sheriff's Office's new Multi-School Community Resource Officer, Corporal Scott Mrkvicka will be a "vital resource" to help improve the safety of schools throughout the county, a news release said.
Mrkvicka's responsibilities will include working with staff, teachers, students and parents to improve community relations and enhance security. He will help schools improve their approaches to crisis intervention and crime prevention, along with fostering educational outreach.
"The safety of our students and staff is our top priority," DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick said in a statement.

He added, "By placing a dedicated officer in our schools, we are creating a safer environment where our children can thrive and feel comfortable."
