Council To Review Special Use Permit For Addition To Chrouser Sports Complex
The proposed 18,400 square foot addition would eliminate a 96-space student parking lot, causing some residents to raise concerns.

WHEATON, IL — On Monday, the Wheaton City Council will consider a special use permit to allow Wheaton College to build an 18,400 square foot addition to Chrouser Sports Complex.
To accommodate the addition, developers will eliminate a student parking lot with 96 spaces, according to city documents. This raised concerns from some residents at a recent public hearing. Among the concerns was possible parking issues on Howard Street. To mitigate this, residents suggested enforcing restrictions that would encourage students of Wheaton College to avoid parking on the street.
Per city documents, the 18,400 square foot building would have a "dedicated athletic entrance," along with a training facility equipped with hydrotherapy, training and strength and conditioning facilities, a recruitement space, football lockers and a lobby.
