Crews Work To Clear Tree Damage From Streets In Wheaton
High winds damaged several trees throughout Wheaton during storms Wednesday night, blocking roadways into early Thursday.
WHEATON, IL — Crews were working to clear downed branches and fallen limbs from roadways and parkways throughout Wheaton early Thursday, following high winds and storms that swept through the area Wednesday evening.
Around 8 p.m. Wednesday, downed wires caused close to 500 residents lost power in Wheaton, according to ComEd. High wind warnings were in effect in DuPage, Kane, Kendall, McHenry, Cook, Grundy and Will counties until 9 a.m. Thursday. Winds were expected to reach speeds of up to 65 mph.
Blocked streets and high-traffic areas were given top priority in Thursday morning's cleanup efforts. Residents with tree debris in their parkways can call 630-260-2122 or click the link to request service from forestry crews.
