Deputies To Increase Patrols In DuPage County For St. Patrick's Day

The DuPage County Sheriff's Office will be out in full force to crack down on drunk and impaired driving for the St. Patrick's Day holiday.

DUPAGE COUNTY — As the green beer flows and St. Patrick's Day parties and events bring out revelers, the DuPage County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) plans to be in full force to target drunk and impaired drivers.

DCSO recommends taking the following measures to keep the roads safe during St. Patrick's Day celebrations.

  • Designate a sober driver
  • Avoid walking or driving under the influence
  • Be aware of impaired drivers and pedestrians

Deputies will also be on the lookout for incidences of distracted driving and seatbelt violations.

"With St. Patrick's Day falling on a Monday this year, we expect increased celebrations throughout the weekend prior," DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick said in a statement.

He added, "We urge everyone to celebrate responsibly. Please plan ahead for a sober ride home before you leave the house - your safety and the safety of others depends on it."
