Deputies To Target Speeding Drivers In DuPage County

DUPAGE COUNTY — The DuPage County Sheriff's Office is increasing patrols to target speeding drivers as part of a statewide traffic safety campaign.

During July, officers in DuPage County will focus on speeding and other traffic infractions. They are among 200 agencies participating in this "Speeding Catches Up with You" initiative.

"Over the past few years, we have seen an increase in careless and risky driving. No matter how safe ofa driver you think you may be, speeding is dangerous," DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick said in a statement.

He added, "Speed limits aren’t a suggestion – they are the law."

The safety campaign will be underway in DuPage County and other municipalities through July 31.
