WINFIELD, IL — A 33-year-old man was hurt in a fiery single-car crash into a tree in Winfield early Sunday. Emergency responders were called to the intersection of Calvin and Jewell Roads just after 3 a.m. for a report of a crash. Initial investigation suggests that the car left Jewell Road and hit a tree after going west at a "high rate of speed," according to police. Police say the driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
