DuPage County Reports 19 Percent Voter Turnout For Primary Election
More than 121,000 DuPage County voters headed to the polls on Tuesday for the General Primary Election.
WHEATON, IL — Nearly 20 percent of DuPage County voters headed to the polls on Tuesday to cast their ballots in the General Primary Election.
In total, 121,119 ballots were recorded from among the county's 617,363 registered voters, per data from the DuPage County Clerk's Office. Early voting, which kicked off Feb. 8, yielded 23,541 ballots that had been counted as of Wednesday.
DuPage County voters requested 60,692 mail-in ballots ahead of the General Primary Election. Of these 33,622 had been tabulated as of Wednesday. Illinois requires that vote totals remain unofficial until a minimum of 14 days after election day to allow for mail-in ballots to be tallied.

Illinois voter turnout was "shockingly low," Chicago Board of Elections Director of Public Information Max Bever told ABC 7.
Rep. Sean Casten declared victory Tuesday, which means he'll defend his seat in the state's 6th Congressional District come November. Casten will face off against Republican Niki Conforti in the Nov. 5 General Election.

The race for Illinois's 11th Congressional District saw incumbent Rep. Bill Foster as the projected winner of the Democratic nomination, per the Associated press. Meanwhile, AP projected Jerry Evans as the Republican nominee.
