Free Narcan Vending Machine Debuts At Glendale Heights PD
The machine is the second in DuPage County to offer Narcan kits at no cost to help prevent fatal opioid overdoses.

GLENDALE HEIGHTS, IL — A vending machine that offers free Narcan kits is now available at the Glendale Heights Police Department. The machine is the second of its kind in DuPage County and will be accessible 24 hours a day.
“Carrying naloxone, a medication that can rapidly reverse opioid overdose, is one of the most effective means of addressing the opioid crisis and saving lives,” DuPage County Health Department Executive Director Adam Forker said in a news release.
Forker added, “By providing the community with free 24-hour access to Narcan, we are able to get it in the hands of those who need it most.”

In 2022, opioids were found in the bloodstreams of more than 100 of DuPage County's 150 fatal drug overdoses.
DuPage County introduced its first Narcan vending machine in 2022 at Wheaton's Linda A. Kurzawa Community Center. According to health department officials, over 200 overdose deaths were prevented last year in DuPage County with the help of Narcan kits.
