Help Homeless Veterans At Stuff The Squad Event In Wheaton

WHEATON, IL — Leading up to Veterans Day, residents can donate household items to help local vets at a Stuff the Squad event hosted by the Wheaton Police Department. Items donated at the Nov. 15 event will be donated to the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans.

The following items are being sought for the donation drive:

  • All-purpose cleaner
  • Bath rugs and towels
  • Brooms and vacuums
  • Coffee pots
  • Comforters, sheets and pillows
  • Containers for food storage
  • Deodorant
  • Dishes
  • Disinfectant spray and wipes
  • Dryer sheets and laundry pods
  • Garbage bags and cans
  • Glass cleaner
  • Microwaves
  • Paper towels and toilet paper
  • Pots and pans
  • Razors
  • Scrub pads and brushes
  • Shampoo
  • Tissues and napkins
  • Toasters
  • Toilet brushes
  • Winter coats, gloves and hats for adults

“As we traditionally honor our nation’s veterans in November, the Wheaton Police Department would like to help support local veterans who are facing a challenging time,” Wheaton Community Engagement Officer Crystal Miroballi said in a statement.

She added, “The Stuff a Squad program’s success over the past couple years has been a wonderful example of our community’s caring and generous spirit, and we look forward to inviting our residents, organizations and businesses to join us in helping local veterans.”

Where: Wheaton Police Department, 900 W. Liberty Dr., Wheaton

Donations can also be left in the police department lobby ahead of the event.
