Patch: How long have you been doing business in town, or how long has your organization been around in the community?
Scheffers: Grand Ridge National Bank was founded on April 6, 1903. In 2011, Grand Ridge National Bank chose Wheaton as a new base from which to expand its geographic market area. Located across from the Dupage County government facility, the Wheaton office is the company headquarters. In addition to the branch, the Wheaton office houses our executive offices as well as our loan and deposit operations teams. In 2015, the bank expanded its area presence by acquiring Winfield Community Bank and merging it into Grand Ridge National Bank.

Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?
Scheffers: We’re not like the bureaucratic mega banks that pretend to care, and we’re not like the sleepy, small banks lacking expertise and capability. At Grand Ridge National Bank, we deliver advanced online banking capabilities coupled with premier top-tier personnel that together provide an unmatched boutique banking experience. We don’t put customers through endless phone trees or make them waste time waiting on hold. Our concierge customer support team is filled with smart, empowered people who can solve your problem right then and there.

Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about? If so, what details can you share and what makes it so exciting?
Scheffers: In December, Grand Ridge National Bank was named ICBA’s Independent Banker 2022 Best Community Bank to Work For. We take great pride in our work and overall in being Premier as an organization so we were honored to be recognized by one of the nation’s top banking trade groups.

Also in December, Grand Ridge National Bank was once again given the coveted 5-Star Superior rating by Bauer Financial, an independent bank rating company. Bauer rates every federally insured U.S. bank and has given Grand Ridge National Bank the highest rating available that is reserved for the most financially sound banks in the nation. This marks the 29th consecutive quarter it has done so.
