WHEATON, IL — New parking rules are expected to roll out in Wheaton come spring. Among the changes are limits to customer parking, new parking garage policies and a Blue Dot parking program for employees who work downtown.

Customer Parking Time Limit

Wheaton will impose a three-hour time limit on customer parking in the downtown area. The time limit will be effective Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This change will be in effect once signs are installed to reflect the three-hour time limit in the central downtown area. Outside downtown, signs will indicate a four-hour time limit at select spots. The change will help ensure the spots are not misused for long-term parking, according to a post on the City of Wheaton website.

Changes to Garage Parking

Daily fee parking spaces will be in effect on the top floor of the Wheaton Place Garage as of April 1. The garage's remaining floors will remain unchanged. Daily fees can be paid via an app called Passport and will be available Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parking will be free outside these times.

Blue Dot Parking Program

Starting July 1, downtown business owners can buy Blue Dot Parking permits for staff and employees. Employees with access to the Blue Dot Program can park for longer than posted time limits in spots that are designated for Blue Dot parking.

Applications for the Blue Dot Program open May 1, with an annual cost of $50. The cost will be prorated to $25 for 2025.
