Over 50 Tickets Issued In St. Patrick's Day Crackdown In DuPage County

The DuPage County Sheriff's Office issued dozens of tickets during a safety campaign leading up to St. Patrick's Day.

DUPAGE COUNTY —The DuPage County Sheriff's Office issued more than 50 citations during its 2025 St. Patrick's Day traffic safety campaign. Drivers were ticketed for speeding, distracted driving, seatbelt violations and other offenses.

Below is the breakdown of citations doled out by sheriff's deputies during the campaign.

  • Nine speeding tickets
  • Nine distracted driving tickets
  • Eight tickets for no valid insurance
  • Six tickets for disobeying a stop sign
  • Five tickets for expired license plates
  • Two tickets for failure to signal
  • Two tickets for disobeying a traffic signal
  • Two tickets for driving without a valid license
  • Two tickets for improper lane usage
  • Two tickets for seatbelt violations
  • One ticket for transporting open alcohol
  • One ticket for illegal window tinting
  • One ticket for driving with suspended license
  • One ticket for lacking valid registration

“We strongly enforce traffic laws for one reason – to save lives,” DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick said in a statement.

The annual traffic campaign was part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket initiatives.
