Park District Kicks Off 5th Annual Light Up Wheaton Contest

Residents can deck their halls to win in three different categories: Most Creative, People's Choice, Mayor's Choice.

WHEATON, IL — Registration has opened for the park district's 5th Annual Light Up Wheaton contest. The contest challenges residents and businesses owners to deck their places out in holiday lights for a chance to win prizes and $100 worth of gift cards to local shops and eateries.

Light Up Wheaton is open to anyone who lives within the limits of the City of Wheaton or the Wheaton Park District. Participants are required to decorate their own houses or businesses to compete. Those who won in 2023 may take part in this year's competition, but are not eligible to win.

Contestants must register by Dec. 12. Here are the steps to register:

Winners will be chosen in three categories: Most Creative, Mayor's Choice and People's Choice. Pictures of the competing homes and businesses will be shared on social media, with judging set to take place between Dec. 13 and Dec. 19. The Mayor's Choice and Most Creative awards will be judged between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. during the aforementioned dates. People's Choice winners will be determined via the city and park district Facebook pages.

On Dec. 20, the winners in each category will be notified by email and unveiled on social media.
