Parkway Trees Available To Wheaton Residents At Shared Cost
Parkway trees are available to Wheaton residents on a first-come, first-served basis, with applications being accepted through March 1.
WHEATON, IL — Wheaton residents can add some greenery to their homes by taking part in the city's 2023 Shared Cost Parkway Tree Program, which was recently expanded to offer 200 trees.
The cost for residents is $95 to purchase a tree. Twelve different types of trees are available. They are:
- Burr oak
- Pink flowering crabapple
- Hackberry
- Honeylocust
- Hybrid elm
- Japanese tree lilac
- Kentucky coffeetree
- Red maple
- Red oak
- Serviceberry
- Sugar maple
- Swamp white oak
Starting in spring, employees from the Forestry Division will begin planting the trees on the parkways of residents' homes. Some species of trees will need to be planted in autumn.
