BARTLETT, IL — A pedestrian was hit by a Milwaukee District West Metra train near Bartlett Thursday afternoon, according to Metra officials.

An alert posted on Twitter just after 12:45 p.m. said the #2236 train had struck a pedestrian and that commuters should anticipate "extensive delays."

Bartlett police posted around 1 p.m. that Oak Avenue was closed at the railroad crossing and traffic was being rerouted to a detour via Western Avenue.

A spokesperson for Metra said no further information was available as of 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
