WHEATON, IL — Counterfeit cash, a retail theft and a car burglary were reported at businesses in Wheaton, according to the city's police blotter for mid- to late February.

Counterfeit Bill Presented

Police were called to Buikema's Ace Hardware at 1705 N. Main St. on Feb. 14 for a report of forgery. Store employees told officers a man used counterfeit bills to buy items. The incident took place sometime between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Retail Theft Reported

On Feb. 28, an unknown number of individuals came to Jewel-Osco at 2031 N. Main St. and stole "various bottles of alcohol," according to the crime blotter. The theft happened sometime between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Car Burglarized

A car was burglarized while it was parked in the lot at Fox Bowl, 1101 Butterfield Rd. on Feb. 23. It was reported that the car's rear window was shattered and "multiple items" were stolen from the backseat sometime between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.
