Man Fatally Shot At Bar In Unincorporated Wheaton: Report

WHEATON, IL — A man was fatally shot at Rosie O'Reilly's in unincorporated Wheaton early Friday, according to WGN. A suspect is currently in custody.

Wheaton police say they are helping the DuPage County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) investigate the incident, which took place around 8:45 a.m. at the bar at 0N131 Gary Ave. The street was closed temporarily between Prairie and Harrison as the investigation continued and police secured the area.

A video shared with Patch shows two men exchanging words and appearing to grapple with each other on the front deck outside of Rosie O'Reilly's. A third man yells at the pair to "stop" before firing two shots into the air with what appears to be a handgun.

Audio from a Ring doorbell camera that was shared on the Nextdoor app appears to depict two gunshots, followed by a series of nine gunshots.

According to police, the shooting was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community. After police became aware of the shooting, Wheaton North High School enacted a "secure and teach" scenario out of "an abundance of caution," an update from city officials said.
