Thief Posed As UPS Driver; Car Burglarized: Wheaton Crime Blotter

A person posed as a UPS delivery driver in a scam that took place in Wheaton in early November.

WHEATON, IL — A person posing as a UPS driver to commit a scam was one of the recent crimes reported on the most recent Wheaton Police blotter.

According to police, the person told a resident in the 300 block of Washington that they were a delivery driver from UPS and needed their package and debit card. The person then took the package and used the debit card to withdraw "a large sum of money," the. blotter said. The incident took place on Nov. 8.

On Nov. 15, a resident in the 1400 block of Stonebridge Court told police their car had been burglarized. Per the blotter, someone had broken the car's back window, gotten into the vehicle and damaged the ignition and steering column. The burglary happened sometime between 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 14 and 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 15.
