Tree Pruning To Start For 2023 Season In Wheaton

WHEATON, IL — Wheaton is set to start its annual tree pruning the week of Feb. 13. The pruning will be conducted by Winkler's Tree Service and aims to beautify trees and prevent future damage.

The city's tree pruning will begin south of Roosevelt and west of Lorraine and north of 22nd and East of Blanchard, according to the city website. Click the link to see amap of the planned tree pruning.

According to the City of Wheaton, the tree pruning initiative aims to:

  • Maintain the appearance and shape of trees
  • Get rid of broken or dead branches
  • Stop limbs from growing too close to utility lines
  • Improve airflow
  • Increase sunlight to trees
  • Reduces the chance for trees to be damaged by storms or high winds
  • Aids visibility and vehicle clearance

Signs will be posted to notify residents about tree pruning in their areas and to keep commuters aware of the tree maintenance.
