Unload Unwanted Jack-O'-Lanterns, Gourds For Composting In Wheaton
SCARCE and the city's Environmental Improvement Commission will host an event to gather pumpkins for composting.

WHEATON, IL — Now that Halloween has passed, those fast-decaying jack-o'-lanterns are ready to be repurposed. Wheaton's Environmental Improvement Commission and SCARCE are teaming up to host a pumpkin composting event at the #9 commuter parking lot on Nov. 8.
This marks the 11th year Wheaton has hosted a pumpkin composting initiative.
To be accepted, pumpkins must not be painted or have any accessories affixed to them. Candles, stickers and other items must be taken from the pumpkin before it can be composted.
