Wheaton Will Help Pay For 200 Parkway Trees In 2024

WHEATON, IL — Once again, the City of Wheaton will kick off the new year by inviting residents to take part in its Shared Cost Parkway Tree Program.

More than 12 species of tree are available for residents to purchase with the help of the city. The available species include:

  • Burr oak
  • Pink flowering crabapple
  • Hackberry
  • Honeylocust
  • Hybrid elm
  • Japanese tree lilac
  • Kentucky coffeetree
  • Red maple
  • Red oak
  • Serviceberry
  • Sugar maple
  • Swamp white oak

Trees cost $95 per resident and are available on a first come, first served basis through Feb. 29. Come spring, the purchased trees will be planted by staff from Wheaton's Forestry Division.
