NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville kids are counting down the days to Halloween, when they can don their favorite costumes and head out for trick-or-treating. Naperville does not have designated trick-or-treating times, but families are encouraged to head out before nightfall and get back home by 8 p.m.

Shops and restaurants will hand out candy as costumed kids trick-or-treat through downtown Naperville during the Halloween Hop. The event is free and includes candy and other goodies.

Trick-or-Treating at Naper Settlement
Oct. 27 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Kids can dress up in their Halloween costumes and head to Naper Settlement to trick-or-treat. Prizes will be awarded for the top costumes in the following categories: Most Creative, Best Costume, Best Family Theme.

Though Naperville does not have set trick-or-treating hours, the following tips have been suggested in past years to help trick-or-treaters stay safe:
