WILMETTE, IL —Village officials said there was never a threat to the public after an armed, barricaded person was involved in a standoff with Wilmette police Tuesday morning. The person is now in custody.

Police spent more than two hours around a home in the 1900 block of Wilmette Avenue, leading to the closure of nearby streets.

No information was immediately available regarding the person's identity, any criminal charges associated with the incident, or what prompted the major police response.
