All-Clear Given After Bomb Threat At Wilmette Library: Police

After the Cook County sheriff's bomb squad helped Wilmette police search the building, no bomb was found.

WILMETTE, IL — The all-clear was given hours after a bomb threat led to the evacuation of the Wilmette Public Library Thursday, police said.

Around 2:30 p.m., police were notified of an explosives-related threat at the library building and notified the Cook County Sheriff's Police Bomb Team, according to an alert.

Police closed off Park Avenue between Wilmette and Central avenues and asked the public to avoid the area.

The library building at 1242 Wilmette Ave. remained closed through the end of the day Thursday, police said.

Around 4:45 p.m., Wilmette police said the all-clear was given after an extensive search, and that the library was set to reopen Friday morning. Park Avenue had also reopened.
