Deputy Chief Of Wilmette Fire Department Named New Wheaton Fire Chief
Deputy Chief Rob Brill's last day is Tuesday after after 23 years working for the village.

WILMETTE, IL — A deputy chief at the Wilmette Fire Department will depart the village after near two dozen years after he was hired as chief of the Wheaton Fire Department.
Rob Brill, who began his career as a police officer in Palatine, started working in Wilmette as a firefighter/paramedic in 1999. He would rose through the ranks until getting promoted to deputy chief in 2017, according to village staff.
Brill worked extensively with MABAS Division 3 to improve his department's coordination with other towns in the area, according to a village board resolution commemorating his contributions.

The outgoing deputy chief also helped the department implement critical software upgrades and served as its most recent accreditation manager. He has been designated a chief fire officer by the Center for Public Safety Excellence and an executive fire officer by the National Fire Academy.
After 23 years, Tuesday is scheduled to be Brill's last day in Wilmette, according to village staff. He will be succeeded by Ryan Menzies as deputy fire chief, with Michael Scheetz named the new battalion chief.

Brill is due to be sworn in to his new role in Wheaton on Jan. 17. In a statement, he called the town "a desirable community to work and live in."
