Empowerment Over Fear: Chabad Announces Free Training Course "Outsmarting Antisemitism"

In response to the alarming surge of antisemitism on college campuses, social media platforms, and protests worldwide, the Chabad Center for Jewish Life & Learning in Wilmette is taking a proactive stance by launching an emergency rerun of JLI’s (Jewish Learning Institute) acclaimed four-week course, "Outsmarting Antisemitism." This timely initiative aims to equip individuals with the knowledge and resilience needed to confront and combat the rising wave of hatred.

"Silence in the face of antisemitism is not an option," emphasizes Rabbi Dovid Flinkenstein, the visionary behind this initiative. "We recognize the urgency of the situation and believe that knowledge is the key to empowerment. By offering this comprehensive course free of charge, we hope to engage people of all backgrounds in the collective effort against antisemitism."

"Outsmarting Antisemitism" is a deep dive into the historical roots and contemporary manifestations of antisemitism. Participants will explore the following key areas:

  • Modern Tactics: Analyzing the sophisticated tactics employed to spread antisemitic rhetoric, both online and offline.
  • Practical Strategies: Equipping participants with practical techniques for effectively responding to antisemitic encounters, whether in person or in the digital realm.
  • Jewish Identity: Celebrating the enriching tapestry of Jewish identity, exploring its rich heritage, enduring traditions, and profound contributions to the world.
  • Resilience and Faith: Embracing the power of resilience to navigate challenges with unwavering faith and a steadfast commitment to Jewish values.

"Outsmarting Antisemitism is not just a course; it's a journey of self-empowerment and collective action," Rabbi Flinkenstein asserts. "By reclaiming the narrative and fostering understanding, participants can transform fear into resilience and ignorance into enlightenment."

  • The course will be offered both in-person and via Zoom for participants and is offered on Sunday mornings and Monday evenings beginning December 17 and 18. Registration is open to everyone, regardless of faith, background or affiliation.
