Man Arrested After 175.5 Grams of Marijuana Located in Vehicle

An Evanston man has been arrested for possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver after Wilmette Police located 175.5 grams of cannabis in his vehicle, police reports state.

Austine Okacha, 22, was stopped on the 1000 block of Locust Rd. for traffic violations on July 7. The officer could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and then saw two baggies containing what appeared to be cannabis near the center console of the vehicle.

Upon further search, the Wilmette Police located 175.5 grams of cannabis in nine plastic bags, an electronic scale, two cannabis grinders and open alcohol.

Police reports state that Okacha made admissions concerning the intent to deliver the marijuana. He is being charged with one felony count of possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver and violations for the illegal transporation of alcoholic liquor, failure to signal when required and driving without lights when required. He's being held on a $10,000 bond.

Okacha's next court date is set for July 23.
