Attempted Pharmacy Burglar Gets Probation

Barry R. Menary, 54, of Wilmette, also was ordered to pay $699 in fines.

SKOKIE, IL — A Wilmette man who tried to rob a CVS in April was sentenced to probation and fined, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Barry R. Menary, 54, pleaded guilty to burglary on Wednesday at the Skokie courthouse and was sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to pay fines and fees of $699, authorities told the Tribune.

Menary was arrested in April for approaching the pharmacy desk at the CVS at 1515 Sheridan Rd. around 3:30 p.m. April 20 and presenting a note demanding prescription pain killers and implied he had a gun.

The pharmacist called the police and the offender fled the area empty handed.

Menary was initially charged with aggravated attempted robbery.
