United Airlines Chief Operating Officer Sells Kenilworth Mansion
The 4,200-square-foot design is a mixture of "Scandinavian minimalism and Japanese Wabi Sabi philosophy," according to its listing.
KENILWORTH, IL — An airline executive recently sold a contemporary home in Kenilworth for more $2.15 million.
Toby Enqvist, the chief operating officer of Chicago-based United Airlines, and his wife, Dedee Enqvist, ended up parting with the property for about 14 percent below the price for which they listed it for sale last summer.
Located on a third of an acre on a private driveway off Ridge Road, the five-bedroom, 4,200-square-foot home underwent a significant remodeling after the Enqvists purchased it for $600,000 in 2014, records show.

"It is a stunning mix of Scandinavian minimalism and Japanese Wabi Sabi philosophy," it said.

The home includes a 40-foot wall of windows overlooking a large private garden, a 19-foot kitchen island and a patio with an outdoor kitchen and smoker, according to the listing.
According to Crain's Chicago Business, which first reported the sale, Enqvist was an executive with Continental Airlines before the Houston-based carrier merged with United in 2010. After being promoted to chief customer officer in 2021, he became COO last July.
