WILMETTE, IL — Talk about a hole in one: Wilmette native Andy Murray, brother of Bill Murray and owner of the Caddyshack restaurant franchise, told the Record North Shore that he hopes the franchise’s third location can open in Wilmette in March 2022.

The Record reported in May that Murray Brothers purchased the property at 200 Skokie Boulevard – former home of the Bakers Square restaurant – for $1.75 million. The franchise currently has two other locations in Rosemont, right near O’Hare Airport, and St. Augustine, Florida.

The franchise offers all-American favorites like fries, burgers, and beers, albeit with some golf and “Caddyshack”-themed twists, like “Crispy Potato Golf Balls” and the “Classic Caddy Cheeseburger.”

Murray told the Record that his group has hired a general contractor and plans to start making over the 4500-square-foot restaurant soon. He said that he plans to gut the restaurant entirely and make room for indoor and outdoor patios.

Murray is one of one who grew up on Elmwood Avenue in Wilmette, and attended Loyola Academy, according to the Record. Andy and Bill’s experiences as caddies at the Indian Hills Country Club in Winnetka served as the inspiration for the iconic 1980 film.
