Wilmette, Kenilworth Runners Compete In Chicago Marathon

In all, 82 local runners finished Sunday's 26.2-mile race.

CHICAGO — It may have been a long wait, but for the participants in the 43rd edition of the Chicago Marathon, it was worth it. Taking place for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sunday's race was filled with local participants.

There were 69 runners from Wilmette and 13 from Kenilworth out of the approximately 26,000 that finished the marathon, according to unofficial results.

Seifu Tura, of Ethiopia, won the men's race with a time of 2:06:12 seconds, while and Ruth Chepngetich, of Kenya, took the women's crown after finishing in 2:22:31.

The men's and women's wheelchair races were won by Daniel Romanchuk and Tatyana McFadden, both of the United States, in 1:29:07 and 1:48:57.

  • Dan Fogel, of Wilmette, 3:21:44, 18th in the 55-59 age group, 1,668th among men, 2,006th overall
  • Antoinette Gray, of Wilmette, 3:55:55, 296th in the 35-39 age group, 1,680th among women, 6,066th overall
  • Owen Roth, of Kenilworth, 3:23:23, 332nd in the 25-29 age group, 1,760th among men, 2,142nd overall
  • Caroline Smith, of Wilmette, 3:59:09, 113th in the 20-24 age group, 1,898th among women, 6,628th overall
  • Michael Solmos, of Wilmette, 3:31:35, 5th in the 19 and under age group, 2,356 among men, 2,949 overall
  • Oliver Morton, of Kenilworth, 3:32:59, 413rd in the 40-44 age group, 2,452 among men, 3,091 overall
  • Margaret Dixon, of Wilmette, 4:10:48, 156th in the 20-24 age group, 2,585th among women, 8,353 overall
  • Melanie Morrow, of Wilmette, 4:14:16, 2,828th in the 40-44 age group, 2,828th among women, 8,935th overall
