Wilmette Student's Wolf Sculpture Honored At Juried Art Exhibition
Artists from eight community colleges are on display at the Skyway Juried Art Exhibition, where Oakton's Megan Africk is among the winners.

DES PLAINES, IL — An Oakton College student is among the artists honored at the annual Skyway juried art exhibition, which features more than 200 submissions from local community colleges.
Megan Africk, of Wilmette, graduated from New Trier High School before attending Oakton, which is this year hosting the Skyway Juried Art Exhibition.
The annual exhibition features students from McHenry County College, Prairie State College, College of Lake County, Waubonsee Community College, Elgin Community College, Moraine Valley Community College and Morton College and rotates between the eight locations.

Africk will receive an Excellence award for her ceramic sculpture "Gray Wolf" this weekend at an awards and reception ceremony at the Koehnline Museum of Art, according to Oakton staff.
“I am very excited,” Africk said in a statement. “This is my first art award, and it feels amazing to be recognized for something I enjoy and am proud of.”

The awards ceremony is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Six other Oakton students have contributed about two dozen submissions to the exhibit, which runs through April 30:

- Maria de Lourdes Frantsve, Park Ridge, CETIS 87 High School (Mexico)
- Aidan Grubbs, Des Plaines, Maine West High School
- Callie Mendoza, Des Plaines, Elmwood Park High School
- Robert Michlove, Evanston, Notre Dame College Prep
- Grace I Park, Skokie, Dong Duk High School (South Korea)
